May Meeting and Newsletter 2025

The next meeting of the Society will be at the Royal Hotel on Tuesday, 20th May when Sue Tanner will present A Damn Good Question: Who Made the Bricks?

The brickmakers of Armidale have not been easy to research and Sue has been able
to ‘unearth’ information regarding who they were.

Membership for 2025-26: A membership renewal is included in this newsletter, with details of payment options. The Annual General Meeting will be in July and payment by 30th June would be appreciated.

April 2025 Meeting and Newsletter

The next monthly meeting of the Society will be held at the Royal Hotel on Tuesday 15th April at 5.30pm. The speaker will be Caroline Chapman, and her talk, based on documents held at the University of New England Regional Archives and Heritage Centre is titled – Dr Ellen Kent Hughes OBE – Letters from Armidale. “Kentie” as she was widely known, served Armidale for over forty years She was a legend in her time and has provided a valuable history of those year in Armidale through correspondence with her son.

The first meeting of the Society in 2025 will be held at the Royal Hotel, 5.30pm on Tuesday, 18th February.
The speaker will be Graham Wilson and his chosen topic is,
“The Rise and Fall of the Tupperware Company in America”.
